lanterns and mooncakes
goodwood park's mooncakes
yesterday, after work, i went mooncake shopping with angela. initially, i wanted to go takashimaya but i thought its a waste of time to travel and down cos the atrium at TM is also selling the mooncakes i want. i met angela at CS. the stalls at the atrium included east shore, bakerzin, city harbour, bengawan solo, haagen daz, lavender, goodwood park and maybe one or two more restaurants. i thought the choices were pretty limited so we decided to go over TM atrium. unfortunately, the atrium wasnt selling mooncakes, but clothing. =( i want my raffles champagne truffle mooncake. i remember seeing on the promotional material that the TM atrium would last till 25 sep.
usually, my aunt cat would be the one buying and supplying us with lots of yummy mooncakes but shes been so busy with work. when i used to have mooncakes easily available, i hardly eat them. now that theres none, im craving for it. human's nature. haha.
in the end, i bought a box each of double yolk white lotus and mini snowskin white lotus mooncakes from east ocean. my aunt jen was still telling me that there will be buy one get one free cos its the last day, which is so untrue. most of the stalls had only a few choices left. then i bought another box of double yolk white lotus from city harbour. we passed by the goodwood park booth and angela and i couldnt resist buying 2 snowskin durian mooncakes cos there has been many reviews stating that its the best durian mooncake and quite alot of people have also been commenting about how good it is.
total damage: estimated 115++ (i saved 15 - 20% thanks to HSBC privileges)
with two big bags of mooncakes, we went to my grandma's place for dinner. aunt jen then told me something that made me happy; she has the raffles champagne truffle mooncake! hurray! i dont have to wait for next year if its really out of stock, that is. (bestie offer to check if there are still stocks). a happy girl cos i have all the mooncakes i want.
HAPPY MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL!!!

entertainment, leisure and food
friday evening, i met up with grace, cp and javvy at vivo city. we had dinner at the food court before heading to st james, gallery bar for bert's bday party.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BERT!
my first time to st james. the gallery bar was nice. i thought the view was pretty awesome, its just different from the usual clubs. later, reys came by after her department dinner. we chilled out till almost 3am.

saturday evening, the bf and i met up with bestie and cp for steamboat dinner at la mei zi, chong qing huo guo. i didnt realise there were so many chong qing huo guos around. half the time i was eating meatballs and hot dogs. the bf was saying if he opens a steamboat shop and serves me only hot dogs and meat balls, he'll earn lots. -_-
personally, the bf and i thought the previous chong qing huo guo we went had more food variety, free flow of drinks and better service. but its definitely warmer than la mei zi. having steamboat in air-conditioned area is indeed more comfortable.
sunday, the bf and i finally went cycling at ecp. we wanted to catch the early rays of the sun but the bf was too tired. moreover, it was raining. we got there at 3-ish, rented the bikes and cycled for continously 1.5 hours with a short 5 mins break in-between.
we returned the bikes and went to macs. had a lil food and spent an hour or so surfing online. i managed to play the trial game for cake mania 2. its so difficult to use internet nowadays, cos i have no broadband at home anymore.
the bf sent me to my mum's place to pass my bro the modem and to grab a few stuff. it was pretty late to get food so we decided to cook pasta. havent had homemade pasta in a long time. lazy is the word. =p
i've been thinking of having a bbq gathering at savannah for the longest time but i havent got around to start planning. hurhur. hopefully soon.

new helmets and raincoat
it rained when the bf came to pick me. i asked the bf to call the motor accessories shop to enquire about the raincoats that should have arrived 3 weeks ago and they are finally here. but the people broke their promise to call when the raincoats arrived. *angry
we made our way down to the shop and we managed to get his OGK raincoat. intitally they quoted us 75. i got alil agitated cos i bought mine for 65. cp bought grace and his for 55 each. like wah! can.. so later they quoted 70 and keong bargained for 60. in the end, the raincoat was sold for 65. 20 more in total, if only we had bought ours together back then. and anyway, the explanation for this batch of raincoats being more expensive is bcos its new stock. what crap! after we got his raincoat, we went to the motor accessories shop across the road. we came across some half-cap helmets and some other cute helmets meant for scooters, but not PSB approved. keong's current helmet is like almost gone and he need a new helmet quite badly. out of impulse, i decided to buy the new helmets.total damage: 169 raincoat - 65 helmets - 90 visors - 14
happily, we left the shop and crossed the road. then somehow, we noticed many pairs of eyes staring at us. the guy who served us earlier on, came to us with a helmet in his hand. he said in mandarin: "why you never tell me, cannot wear helmets that are not PSB approved.. (pointing to the back of the helmet) blah blah blah.." keong told me later, he wasnt very willing to give us a good price, so why should we buy from him. i totally agree man. but it didnt took us long to regret our decision. so we've decided to get proper PSB approved helmets when he gets his pay. =x

laptops
did i mention my NEC laptop is finally ready for collection? since i've the ACER, the ownership of the NEC goes to the bf. hes not much of a computer person so it should be sufficient for him, although the battery life is really short. i did take good care of the battery, like to make sure its not overcharge ALL the time, but the laptop has been used by my cousins and friends. so someone must have overcharged and overused it so much so that the battery life depreciated from at least 3 hours to 15mins. its pretty sad.. especially when the money comes out from my own pocket. oh well..the bf and i went to collect it after work. happy that its like working. (= total damage for a change of keypad (2nd hand): 95

happy birthday javvy!
after work on monday, the bf and i met reys at cine for our ktv date. to save time, we packed subway and bk for dinner. kbox no longer has rooms where they allow smoking, except for 2 rooms, which are specially dedicated just for smoking purposes. yes, at least they still have somewhere for smokers to smoke but having to walk to the smoking room is such a hassle. we sang till like 11pm when we still have work the next day. haha.
tuesday evening, meet up with the gang. organiser for the day was javvy. it was great to see everyone. we did some window shopping at raffles city shopping centre before heading to marina square. we had dinner at kenny rogers, javvy's treat. thank you javvy! we also had a lil surprise birthday celebration for javvy.
happy birthday javvy!! hope you've enjoyed yourself. (=

new challenges
thursday evening, the bf and i went to comex to check out laptops. as expected, there were thousands of people. i wonder why there are so many people in every IT fair, or maybe just from my experience. the last time i went to one was like ages ago, at the Expo, when i bought my previous laptop. i think i wouldnt want to be a sardin if i dont have the intention to get anything. anyway, i just browse through the booths quickly and took lotsa flyers. i'd rather go home to analyse and compare the info than to stand or walk around deciding which i should get. and also, i had to ask my uncle, the expert, for advices. which, if i dont, i would most probably get nagged if i made the wrong choice.
before we went home, we had dinner at tian tian huo guo. $18/pax if sitting outside, additional $10 for soup base if sitting inside. weird huh? i thought so. they have a couple of choices for the soup base: wanton chicken soup, pork rib and corn soup, ma la soup and tom yam soup. we had the pork rib and corn soup and tom yam. the pork rib and corn soup was damn nice, no msg somemore. the appearance of the meat on plates look appetising too and its fresh. but i didnt like the hot dog though, it tasted like its of low-grade.

friday morning, i was in a meeting when i felt pain in my stomach. the pain got worse so i decided to take mc although i dont really feel good doing so cos its my 3rd mc for the month, besides the public holiday and one day annual leave. the mcs and leave adds up to almost a week. thats bad.. but i wasnt faking it. a not so lucky month for me.
after seeing the doctor, i went to my mum's place. following the porridge and medication, i was feeling pretty productive. i started packing my stuff. threw away quite alot of junk, but theres still lots to go. )= well, my mum likes to keep things.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
saturday morning, the bf and i met reys at sim. we went for the programme briefing for UOL and RMIT. In fact, we skipped half of the RMIT programme briefing cos we have decided to take UOL. we went to check out UOM at the atrium, reys was telling me UOM is more recognised and there are criterias before students can be admitted. The criteria which we didnt meet, an average B. )= we were about to leave when it started raining so, we settled for late lunch at sim.
after lunch, reys was nice enough to accompany me to bugis to get my stickers and bling blings for beckie's ride, in preparation of the vivovespa challenge tomorrow. so exciting la! the bf went home to prepare for work. reys and i hang around bugis till her bf came.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------sunday morning, the bf and i woke up at 8am to give beckie's ride a bathe and a shine. then, we rushed home to shower before flying down to kallang mac to meet up with cp, grace and the rest of the vesporeans. we werent too late for the event but we missed the briefing though. we were grouped together with an amiable and interesting couple. the husband, gordon is from u.s. if im not wrong. they were both riding the PX200. i was pretty amazed by how the gear works cos its different from the others. to change gear, they'll clutch in and turn the handle bar. our team got into minor accidents twice but nothing serious at all. the weather wasnt very friendly too. rain and shine, rain and shine.for the challenge, we had to travelled around the island, we went to yishun park, bedok reservoir park and west coast park. at each station, the riders had to play a game. the team with the fastest timing for the games combined will win. out of the 11 teams, we got... ...4th!!! ($300 worth of prizes)yay! and our team won 2 lucky draw prizes too.i had a great time. its a fun experience and i'll definitely go again next year. (=after the prize and lucky draw ceremony, we went to comex. the traffic was totally horrible, road traffic and human traffic. i managed to decide on the laptop to get, i bought the acer 4710 at 1298 plus a 2GB thumbdrive. while cp went to get his dell laptop, the bf and i went to get thumbdrives at level 6 for my uncle.a long day of travelling around on the road and squeezing through people, we were exhausted. we headed for home right after.
